Hands-on course for dentists:
Indirect Restaurations – from Prep to delivery
– with Mindaugas Kudelis
The course is in English

Modern indirect restorations require more than knowing how to prepare a tooth. Success depends on making the right clinical decisions at every stage of treatment.
This comprehensive two-day course focuses on the three key questions behind every successful indirect restoration:
- HOW do you select the right restorative material for each clinical situation?
- WHAT preparation design should you choose — and why?
- WHEN should you use adhesive bonding, and when is conventional cementation the better option?
Through lectures, clinical cases and extensive hands-on training, participants will learn practical protocols for predictable, minimally invasive and long-lasting posterior indirect restorations that can be implemented immediately in everyday clinical practice.
Fundamental Principles and Everyday Clinical Workflows in the Digital Age
Modern restorative dentistry offers more treatment options than ever before. With the rapid development of digital workflows and contemporary restorative materials, clinicians must continuously update their protocols while maintaining the fundamental principles that ensure predictable long-term outcomes.
This course focuses on the complete workflow for indirect restorations — from treatment planning and material selection to preparation design, scanning, temporization and final delivery. Participants will learn how to select the appropriate material for each clinical situation and how preparation and cementation protocols should be adapted accordingly.
Through lectures, case discussions and extensive hands-on exercises, the course will explore the indications and clinical application of zirconia, lithium disilicate and indirect composite restorations, as well as contemporary concepts such as Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS), digital workflows and adhesive cementation.
Designed for both less experienced and experienced clinicians, the course provides practical, evidence-based guidance that can be directly implemented in everyday practice to improve efficiency, predictability and long-term restorative success.

Topics include:
- Treatment planning and material selection for indirect restorations
- Decision-making between zirconia, lithium disilicate and indirect composite restorations
- Preparation design for full-coverage and partial-coverage restorations
- Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS) and contemporary tooth preparation protocols
- Pre-endodontic and post-endodontic build-up strategies
- Conventional impressions and digital scanning workflows
- Temporization techniques and materials
- Adhesive and conventional cementation strategies
- Surface treatment, substrate management and restoration delivery protocols
Target Audience
This course is designed for clinicians who wish to strengthen their knowledge and clinical skills in indirect restorations, including:
- Less experienced dentists seeking a solid foundation in contemporary indirect restorative dentistry.
- Experienced clinicians who want to update their clinical protocols and workflows in the digital age.
- Dentists looking to improve their decision-making in material selection, preparation design and cementation strategies.
- Clinicians who want practical protocols and techniques that can be implemented immediately in everyday clinical practice to achieve more predictable and long-lasting restorative outcomes.
Learning objectives – Theory
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the indications, advantages and limitations of contemporary indirect restorative materials.
- Select the appropriate restorative material based on clinical situation, tooth position and restorative requirements.
- Apply a structured decision-making process when choosing between zirconia, lithium disilicate and indirect composite restorations.
- Understand modern treatment protocols from diagnosis and treatment planning to final delivery.
- Identify indications for adhesive and conventional cementation strategies.
- Understand the influence of preparation design on material selection and long-term clinical success.
- Plan and execute case-specific preparation designs for crowns, onlays and partial coverage restorations.
- Understand the role of IDS (Immediate Dentin Sealing) and other substrate management protocols.
- Recognize appropriate workflows for conventional impressions and digital scanning.
- Select suitable temporization techniques and materials for different clinical situations.
Learning objectives – Hands-on
After completing the practical sessions, participants will be able to:
- Perform efficient crown preparations following contemporary preparation guidelines.
- Prepare teeth for both full-coverage and partial-coverage indirect restorations.
- Refine preparation geometry according to the selected restorative material.
- Evaluate and modify existing tooth preparations to optimize restorative outcomes.
- Rebuild compromised teeth prior to preparation using contemporary buildup techniques.
- Integrate preparation, scanning and restorative planning within a complete clinical workflow.
- Perform digital scanning of prepared teeth and assess scan quality.
- Fabricate and adjust provisional restorations.
- Apply rubber dam isolation for adhesive restorative procedures.
- Execute adhesive cementation protocols for indirect restorations.
- Deliver indirect restorations using both adhesive resin cements and conventional cements.
- Understand and perform substrate conditioning and restoration surface treatment prior to cementation.
- Troubleshoot common clinical challenges during the delivery phase of indirect restorations.
